I am easily fascinated. The elegance and complexity of even the simplest life forms, the intricate designs inherent in a piece of granite, the undulating, lapping waves upon a Pacific seashore teeming full of tiny life forms… all of these and more make me marvel at the world we live in.
It also makes me realize that “we are not alone” and there are forces at work that go far beyond what we personally experience. One great thing about writing fiction is that it gives you a chance to explore these worlds and questions that are unanswerable… without having to be answerable.
The upcoming Spirits of Chinatown trilogy weaves these into tales of love and pain that crosses life’s boundaries. History mixes with the supernatural with the contexts of Vancouver’s Chinatown, China, Christianity, Chinese religion and mythology.
We live not only in the world we see but the world we do not see.
